Sarsaparille, a plant of Central American Origin, found use in the Middle Ages as a medical plant to combat syphillis.Even today you can find components of her in anabolics.Knowing this it is even more remarkable that this plant serve as main aliment of the SMURFS.This fact inspired me to analyse the Smurf´s world from a critical and grown-up point of view.Intensive researches showed a few exciting phenomena, for example the sinister creation of Smurfette, which is closely leant in the Jewish saga of the Golem. At first she is a malicious, black-haired beast, later she is transformed into a sensual, blond beauty.Even a plastic surgery is mentioned.Pure stereotype!another example is the phenomenom of Alchemy, which creates a fantastic world of images by using spells and mixtures of secret ingredients.Print finishing like gilding or neon colours underlines the magic illustrations. So I´ve created an artwork of 280 pages of this world.New-born, new-interpreted, without showing a single Smurf.
