New Athens City Museum

year of making
Athens is a city of history. One of the few cities in the world that has been continuously inhabited for more than 3000 years. However, this historical continuance is not obvious in the form of the contemporary city, because of a vast and uncontrollable growth within the last 40 years. The fragmented pieces of the past are scattered into the mass of the contemporary buildings and few of the inhabitants seem to understand the meaning and importance of the city’s past, who perceive Athens as an overpopulated and most of the times problematic metropolis under construction. The new Athens city museum aims to redefine the relationship between the city and it’s past by informing and educating the public. 3000 years are being narrated within a simple timeline route, using both digital and physical exhibits.
The desirable result is a tiny museum with a long route, for a small nation with a gigantic civilization.
