For this self initiated project I researched into grids of different kinds; grids from buildings, films, people, etc. My interest in the principles and rules behind grids in design and typography led me to explore grids in other relations than design and I found out that pretty much everything is build up by some kind of grid structure. I chose to focus my project on organic grids because I find it interesting to compare the rules and structure in nature’s organisms to the rules and structure in design. The organic grid is something that is completely built up with no interference from man kind whereas design grids are solely man made.
The result of the research is a set of 3 screenprintet posters describing the structure of 3 different organic products of nature: a leaf, an ice crystal and a flame. Each of the posters describes the way the products grid is built up by using some of the principles of how design is built up.
