This book is about slow living with inspiration from the Slow Movement.
Since the rise of the Industrial Revolution, the speed in which the world functions has accelerated up to an unhealthy pace of life. This acceleration has profound effects on the well-being of humans and the planet. This book describes the implications of speed and how living a slower lifestyle is the solution.
With the book, I hoped to bring together the old and the new. The idea of slow living draws upon the values and lifestyles of the past but are accommodated to our modern world. It's about combining a slower pace of living and consumption with the demand for the quick and speedy. I used 18th century illustrations in combination with a modern layout. The typography gives a nod to the past, yet embodies the essence of today. The book itself offers a feeling of slowness, yet within the pages lies intricate complexity. This mirrors the truth that you must balance the fast and the slow for true well-being.
