We were charged by the Road Construction Department of North Rhine-Westphalia to create a documentation about their project called »Barcode A 40«.
This project was about creating new noise barriers at the Autobahn 40, which were designed by the population. They used the website barcodea40.de (http://barcode-a40.de/) (created by »act&react;«/Dortmund) to create twelve coloured bars as an personal barcode. There was a pool of 32 colours they could use for it. They did also have the possibility to write short texts about their intentions.
In the documentation are texts about the project (written by the urban planning office »orange edge«/Gelsenkirchen), data visualizations, portraits of participants (made by Sebastian Mölleken) and a lot of barcodes with the appropriated stories.
