We were asked "what is a public space and what makes public spaces successful". As an example I chose Dam Square in Amsterdam because of the unique area it was located in. Nestled in between the Red Light District of Amsterdam and the historical, old time, oceanic Amsterdam. This site offers it's visitors a once in a lifetime oppurtunity to view this juxtaposition between the "buisness as usual" and the "vacated" from everyday life person. I have shown what it is like when the two interact, how they interact, and what length of time they interact with each other. I took it a step furthur and introduced static "stages/resting pads" to not only frame views for the visitor but to also award them a area to become part of the spectacle.
