During the year of the Olympics London will be host to a number of athletes, artists, creatives and other illustrious visitors. The room is based on being short term accommodation these visitors.
Located in the heart of London the room offers a sanctuary for the visitor, offering them a place to stay meeting their materials needs, as well as rest and contemplation.
The room gives them a unique view of London with translucent glass bricks, distorting their view over the city, while emphasizing the sky above. This feeling of humility and tranquility is enhanced with a suspended net as the upstairs, allowing for a sense of floating underneath the stars at night.
Light is a key feature, with the building allowing for light to enter during the day via glass roof and circular glass bricks by day, which in turn at night create a visual effect.
Architectural project based on a RSA design brief. This project is to create a room placed on top of the Queen Elizabeth Hall on London's Southbank.
