On the 20. - 21. November 2009 the faculty of design of the University of Applied Sciences Mainz had their third international translations symposium which is concerned with the self image of the communication designer and his role in society.
In summer 2009 we participated on a seminar where design students were searching and designing the graphical appearance of our third translations symposium. At the end we found five different kinds of authors in design that are now represented by our posters:
1. the meaningful teller
2. the visual researcher
3. the developer of mulitmedia-based tools
4. the design theoretical reflecting author
5. the social critic
This series of posters represents the result of our work on finding a way to carry the spirit of authorship in design.
The question of how it would look like when the achievement of the author of design wouldn't have been done physically, but mentally, came up to our mind - and smoothed the way for this concept.
