The topic of the beast has always fascinated and inspired me. As most woman, I imagine, I am concerned about my breasts. The piece deals with the issues: discrimination of breast feeding in public, breast cancer, slang words describing the breast, cosmetic surgery versus natural breasts amongst others.
the creation of the utopia “Circus Boobs” is my way of expressing these concerns through my characters. It was my aim to create a positive and friendly atmosphere where the breast is rich in individuality, knowledge and confidence. Feminist thoughts where secondary to the major idea of sharing my experience and putting the breast in a position where it is able to look into the future with enough confidence, fun and sensitivity to master the new challenges of tomorrow so that the power of the breast does not fade and the breast continues to be forever evolving .
Inspired by body-print performance, I used rubber stamp printing on Japanese paper to create the characters and the atmosphere.
