The Adelaide Fringe festival represents everything ‘underground’, it is a festival for everything cutting edge and different; I designed a poster with this in mind. The use of the all-seeing eye was to communicate that there are numerous things to see during the festival and the hands represent the hands on components of the festival. I have also illustrated the quirkiness of the festival by giving one of the hands on the poster six fingers, this works on a secondary level too; if you count the total amount of fingers depicted, you end up with 11 (rather than 10) and the year of the festival is 2011. For the additional application of the design - to be used as merchandise at the festival - I decided to make a fan out of the six fingered hand from the poster. The Adelaide Fringe Festival usually takes place sometime between Summer and Autumn, and therefore a fan would be both useful and different as a form of merchandise. Not your stock standard t-shirt or postcard.
