»Horizonte« is an architectural lecture series organised and conducted by students at the Bauhaus University Weimar since 1992 . Since July 2010 the group also publishes »HORIZONTE – Zeitschrift für Architekturdiskurs«, a journal which continues topics from the lectures, carrying forward the discourse through interviews, essays and students’ works. The second issue explores how architecture is mediated, both to students and to a broader audience - beyond the profession's borders. With that, architecture's role in society as well as the question of how to bridge the gap between the architect's specific knowledge and the general public's needs and desires becomes a central focus of the discussion.
The design reflects the journal's four categories with the use of different paper grades and type areas while maintaining an easily navigable layout. The journal's main font - "korpus" by binnenland - is chosen because of it's creative and constructive use of design and execution errors.
