Mai 1945. The war is over. Open-hearted and hautingly the soldier Joachim Fechner tells the story of the fallback, his captivity and the search for his mother, to whom his records are dedicated.

The book 24/151/3/1 is about the journey my grandfather was on in the year 1945. Starting from some lose notes he had with him during this trip he later wrote down the story of his home coming to Berlin.
The cover is made of cloth which is sewn to the block. Title and jacket text are stamped. Unwrapped, the block itself resembles a collection of folded notes – an association to the way my grandfather might have transported it.
I used scans of handwritten corrections I found in his text and added typographic details like gaps, dashes and blackletter passages to illustrate his story.
