A project about the world of science and the limits for the known.
In my research I went to Cern, a laboratory for particle physics in the Swiss Alps. When media accused it to endanger the world by causing black holes in their new accelerator. However if the machine creates black holes they are minuscule and exist just fraction of a second - but it would indicate that we have a fifth dimension less than one millimetre away. As if we were two-dimensional figures in a flat, illustrated world without knowing about the third dimension above the surface of the paper.
There is no well-defined limit between science and science fiction; imagination is maybe the most important part of science. The universe seems to be far more exciting than we ever have imagined. My work is a celebration to our fantasy and our eternal search for knowledge.
This project is my master project in Storytelling at Konstfack and was selected for the exhibition Talang 2009 in Eindhoven and for Wallpaper’s Graduate Directory.
