KÖRPERBILDER – MENSCHENBILDER_Konzept
»Körperbilder – Menschenbilder« raises the question in how far the new technical images of the human body influence his perception of the own body and the status as human being.
Two central assumptions are made. The first states that the new visualisation techniques fragment the body into reams of pieces which he can’t assemble to a coherent image. This leads to a decomposition of the image of man.
The second assumption is »representation is intervention«. This means that the every representation of the human body can’t be separated from the intervention into an object, in order to make the visualisation possible. This leads to the thesis that every image is a construction due to theories and modifications and no scaled copy of the object itself.
The project consists of a book and an installation. The book contains of a text by Botho Strauß and rasterised images of the human body.
The installation in body height uses light and transparency to reflect both assumptions.
