Codes are everywhere. We are surrounded by them in our daily lives. This everyday circumstance formed the basis of my diploma project. My goal is to present the world of codes in an exciting and interesting way. The excitement begins with the black slip case from which you can get the book block. Its open spine reveals the first (colour) code in form of the thread stitching. The title KLARTEXT (text in clear, i.e. uncoded text), is applied to the first page using varnish, the other chapter titles, however, require decoding, for example with the aid of UV light. Subtle design elements and the use of different codes are playful intriguing way of bringing the subject home to the readers.
