We chose theme kindergarten to make it in different way. First of all, the place we chose is not typical for kindergarten. Location is Vilnius, industrial district, factory. The factory was built for electrotechnics production. At present these spaces are empty, there are plans to make living spaces there.
The idea - space in space. We have chosen two floors (3rd, 4th) of four and combined them into one open space. We made two main zones - indoor and outdoor. The connection between them is space - lab (ant farm). The lab is the place for work (art, science, library, reading space). It's structure is based on ant farm. The rest of space functions as playground/dining space/sleeping space/hall. These zones are shuffling depending on the situation.
The second space outdoor is on the 4th floor (rooftop). The space is divided into 2 levels. The ground of the second level is concrete slope relief covered with turf. This is synthesis of city and nature.
We create mico city that citizens are kids.
