Lebanon witnessed a brutal war in 2006 that resulted in thousands of casualties & massive destruction on its territory. The Israeli forces destroyed most of the Lebanese bridges in attempt to isolate the cities & towns. The symbol of a bridge in such a multicultural country represents a cultural and physical link between the different Lebanese parties.
The war’s destruction shattered any optimism the people had gain with the successful reconstruction of the country after the civil war in the 1990s. However, this misfortune can be perceived as an opportunity to recover and reunite, despite the cultural and political differences of the Lebanese.
“Recover” reunites people who wish to make a change in the aesthetical and creative aspect of Lebanon, by designing the “Recover” bridge, the most representative tool in reconnecting the divided parts of the population(as shown in the map). Their participation stimulates their creativity and provides them a sense of optimism, solidarity & pride.
