Who is leading the dialogue between a photographer and the person whose photo will be taken?
»Medusa — Aesthetics of the view«.
For my master thesis I invited 60 test persons to participate in my project. I created a gadget named Medusa: a tripod with a mounted camera, surrounded by eight gooseneck LEDs.
The creation of the portraits started with shooting of a biometrical portrait. After the shooting the test persons were asked to look at a PDF presentation with 25 pages including their own portrait. During this step an eye tracker memorized their eye movement and gaze intensity via infrared. The portrait of the test person was added clandestinely to the presentation, so I was able to get a natural intended gaze of relevant areas where the person looked on their own face. During the Medusa light setting, the eye tracking data was transformed by hand (digital to analog) on the probands face with help of the gooseneck LEDs.
