Antonino Benincasa (*1967 Siersburg | Germany), has more than 20 years of design experience in Germany, Switzerland, the Netherlands and Italy. In 1996 he founded the design agency ‹72 DPI› in Milano. In 1999 he established ‹Husmann-Benincasa Corporate & Brand Design› with his wife Nicole Husmann. Antonino is an internationally renowned designer who is best known for his works for the XX Olympic Winter Games in Turin 2006. In 2001 his design agency ‹Husmann-Benincasa Corporate & Brand Design› was commissioned by the TOROC (Turin Organizing Committee) to design the logo and corporate identity of the Olympic Wintergames Torino 2006, the ParalympicGames and of all related sub-brandsFrom 2003 to 2006 he was board member of the AIAP (Association of Italian Graphic Designers). Antonino won several design prizes and has been published on a multitude of occasions. From 1997-2005 Antonino was Lecturer for Visual Communication and Motion Design at the design faculty of the ‹Politecnico di Milano› university. In 2005 he became tenured professor at the Faculty of Design and Art of the Free University of Bozen-Bolzano, teaching communication design, typography and editorial design. Since 2010 Antonino is Head of the Bachelor in Design and Art, Major in Design.

Short portrait

The Faculty of Design and Art has developed a study model which is based on project work and the interdisciplinary approach between visual communication and product design. Bozen/Bolzano is a modern meeting place and cultural mix between the Italian and German worlds as well as a natural interface between traditional cottage industries and state-of-the-art technology. This rich heritage gave birth to the project that spawned the innovative degree course in Design, which ably reflects the ever-changing currents in the design world. During their project work, students will have to deal with complex practical problems. Project work will be amply supported by seminars whose theoretical content will consolidate the work completed during the projects. Moreover, project work will be fully consolidated through courses that take place in our specially equipped workshops as well as through further specialised courses. Students, coming from all over the world, study in the three official languages: Italian, German and English. They work in groups consisting of a maximum of twenty students, where students coming from the first, second and third year of the course will mix freely. The teaching staff are international, young, innovative and motivated individuals who include professionals hailing from the world of work able to transmit the experiences gained through their work to our students.
