“We were drawn to the irony that is central to this project: a visually intriguing and beautiful book that is produced from the simple process of collecting discarded printing mistakes. Pages that were worthless as individuals assemble to ultimately form a substantial body of work. The resulting book, comprised of some quite alluring and mysterious spreads, ends up with its own, new narrative. From one perspective, LEFTOVERS seems to tell the story of "Mistakes at the Chelsea Library" in a purely graphic and interesting way. And the xerox-produced, distressed look of the work adds to its overall mystery. On the broadest level, LEFTOVERS nicely demonstrates that one can, in fact, create something from nothing.”

“I just like the spirit of this. I liked how the book is uses the notion of things that are a “waste of time” as the springboard for doing things. It seems great to conduct open-ended experiments in general, since it puts
playing and surprise at the center of the process of creating. Also, the end results—the book and video—are pretty nice, which underscores the fact that the doing is more important than the judging.”

“The project description didn’t really address this, so this might just be my take, but I thought this was really interesting because of the way it juxtaposes physical and digital interactivity. To me, it seems to reconcile traditional print/paper with digital media in a cool way. I like the idea of hidden messages on screen being revealed by strong gusts by the user’s blowing—as a sort of reminder that digital results still require the physical exertion or human intervention.”

“I think we could experience this piece fully if we had the sound to accompany it but visually it is really interesting and is a very unexpected reaction to fairy tales, I appreciate the new experience of reading a story that they have created, plus it really pushes the format of a book. I also
