mystic pain – from perception to science

“A danger well-known is a danger less agonizing.” Based on this quote i tried to make different types of pain, as well as their course through the body, more comprehensible for everybody. I’m aiming on approaching the complex & socially explosive topic of chronic pain with the tools of a graphic
designer. In close collaboration with pain-therapists and psychologists, i developed
2 experimental systems of visualisation to make people curious and to start a discussion. Both systems intend to provide a general information about each topic using 1 sentence and 1 picture only. The info-posters provide more detailed information on the different topics, such as "how pains works", "chronic manisfestation", "the relation of physical and psychical pain.

“mystic pain” consists of:
7 topics with 14 posters, 7 folded info-posters
and a reseach book with texts, interviews
and methods of visualisation.
