How can graphic designers save paper? Can pre-printed paper be used multiple times? Return is a music periodical which explores this possibility.The magazine is returned to the publisher once read and the next issue is designed and printed over the old issue. Thus developing a bigger role of layers and a more in depth relationship between content and layering. Some content gets deleted, some remain, some obscures, some playing with the new. A 2D books which becomes more 3D as layers are added, ultimately filled with a whole year's content. The different layers start to converse with each other and bring in a feeling of history, with the past relating to the present and waiting for the future. The design process becomes more challenging due to the constraints with space and existing content, talking more chances and having happy accidents while the content underneath becomes the grid/ pattern/ disturbance/ introduction to what comes next. Every page is a challenge, an artifact.
