Love-Interactive Projection Mapping

Whenever I passed through the Pratt campus, I could always see the famous sculpture, LOVE. It is sad to see it abandoned, especially at night. There was just a dim light around it and it was blocked by a big flowerpot and sometimes wrapped by a police line. My friends and I planned to give it a new life and enjoyment using a 3D projection mapping with interaction technology.
To proceed with the “Re-mapping” project, we made a template image for the projection mapping, using Photoshop. Then, we prepared looping video content using AfterEffect, which could visually give the sculpture a new meaning. We combined the videos with interactive media such as Max/MSP/Jitter, infrared proximity sensors, and an arduino board. Whenever people were in the area of the sensors, sounds and videos made a new meaning for LOVE, reflecting onto the sculpture. The ignored work of art was given new life and the indifference turned into an interesting moment with surprise.
